22 soldiers injured in lightning

BAITADI, Feb 14: Twenty-two Nepal Army soldiers have been injured by lightning in Baitadi district. 


The soldiers were participating in a training session under the Army's Shatrumardan Company at Kathpate when they came under a lightning strike at 7.50 pm on Tuesday, Company Chief Major Sudeep Baniya said.

According to him, five of the injured soldiers are in a serious condition. They are Amar Singh Alemagar, Balram Thapamagar, Dinesh Raj Bhatta, Dhan Bahadur Thanet and Sonam Lama Tamang. Major Baniya said preparation is being made to take them to Kathmandu for treatment. 


The rest of the soldiers who sustained minor injuries in the incident are being treated at the District Hospital, Baitadi.
