Lawmaker Sharma said the embassy staffer with surname Das repeatedly threatened to kidnap him over phone (9851107005). The staffer also warned of expelling Sharma´s daughter from the embassy-run Kendriya Vidyalaya. His daughter was recently enrolled in the school in the merit list. [break]
Sharma has been active in garnering support of Madhes-based parties for Maoists in the prime ministerial election. He joined Maoist after quitting Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) about a year ago.
Talking to media persons on the premises of Constituent Assembly building after the fourth round of voting for prime minister, Sharma claimed that a large number of lawmakers from other parties have also been issued life threats if they voted for the Maoists.
“This makes clear why there is no new government in Nepal,” he said, adding, “The formation of a new government is delayed due to foreign interference.”
Sharma said the embassy staffer asked him to “rethink” about his earlier decision to join the Maoists.
“Leave the matter of diplomat. I can do whatever I want to you,” Sharma quoted the embassy staffer as saying when he asked him not to talk like that being a diplomat.
“I have already shared this with the party leadership,” he said, adding, “The party has taken the matter very seriously.”
Asked to comment, Indian embassy Spokesperson Apoorva Srivastav, said, “The embassy does not dignify such baseless and irresponsible allegation.”
