After the meeting, Maoist Vice-chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai told media persons that the fringe political parties asked the Maoists to lead the new government. All the leaders of the 10-party alliance including those from CPN (United) and Sanghiya Loktantrik Manch were present during the meeting.
The Maoists also held a meeting with the leaders of the Madhesi front. During the meeting, Madhesi leaders argued that they would lend support to any party supporting autonomous Madhes province, peace and constitution-drafting.
“We will support the party that addresses the issues of Madhes,” said Chairman of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) Upendra Yadav.
After the meeting, Maoist Vice-chairman Narayankaji Shrestha said that his party´s views are close to that of Madhesi parties. He said the Maoists would hold further talks with the Madhes-based parties to garner support for a Maoist-led government.
