Among those infected, 14 are from Chitwan and 6 are from outside the district. The local cases include 7 from Bharatpur Metropolitan City, 3 from Khairahani Municipality, 2 each from Ratnanagar and Kalika Municipalities.
Five men and nine women have been infected so far, said Public Health Officer Anshu Pokharel.
Chief of the Health Office, Dinesh Rupakheti, explained that the monsoon season creates favorable conditions for mosquitoes, particularly during the months of Shrawan, Bhadra and Ashwin. Dengue is transmitted by the female Aedes mosquito, which typically bites in the early morning and late evening.
This mosquito breeds in clean, stagnant water found in containers such as plastic cans, drums, discarded tires, flowerpots, water tanks, and coolers.
Symptoms of dengue fever include severe pain behind the eyes and in the head, muscle and joint pain, skin rashes, bleeding and high fever.
The main preventive measure is to avoid mosquito bites and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds such as empty containers or tires where water can collect.
