2 foreigners injured in paragliding crash in Pokhara

POKHARA, March 4: Two foreigners have sustained injuries in a paragliding crash in touristic city Pokhara on Monday.

POKHARA, March 4: Two foreigners have sustained injuries in a paragliding crash in touristic city Pokhara on Monday.


The paragliders met with an accident while they were paragliding in a forbidden area. According to Ram Gurung, a local, the injured has been as identified as a Portugal national. However, his identity is yet to be ascertained.

He fell into the ground after he came into contact with the high voltage electric transmission line in the course of paragliding at Thanti of Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality-9.


The foreigner has got his hand broken. “He fell onto the ground after he came into contact with the uninsulated transmission line while paragliding in the sky,” said Gurung.


Similarly, a pilot from Russia had met with an accident at Chhachok of Madi Rural Municipality-7. According to Lal Bahadur Gurung, ward chairman, the pilot, 63, fell into a tree and got injured.


According to Gurung, a total of 20 foreigners had flown from high camp of Mardi Himal High Camp. The paragliders had landed in different places.


A Romanian pilot died after he fell into the Fewa Lake on Sunday.  There was a railway service from Janakpur to Jayanagar five years ago.
