I filled petrol at Suresh Oil, then turned my bike to return to office. As I was passing Birgunj power house at a slow speed (there were potholes on the road), I sensed something running towards me. I was quite disturbed. Something hit my arm and it was burning hard. The arm was slipping off the handle of my motorbike but I held on to it tightly. As I continued riding, I looked back and noticed about three to four people with guns. I couldn’t recognize any of them as I froze with fear when I noticed that they had guns in their hands.
My hand was bleeding. I was scared. They left after following me for some time. After this, I telephoned my friends -- Sudip and Aakar. They arrived in no time and tied a handkerchief around my bleeding arm. They rushed me to Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital. The doctors in the hospital tried to take out the bullet, which had pierced through my arm. By that time, media persons had gathered in the hospital in large numbers.
My sickly mother who was at home was not aware of the incident. I didn’t want to let her know either. But I called my brother. The doctors discharged me at 2 p.m. When I reached home, my mother embraced me with eyes filled with tears. Now, I am taking rest at home. I was very lucky to have survived. I feel that they had come to kill me. They had, in fact, targeted my chest, not the arm. Fortunately, the bullet just hit my arm.
