KATHMANDU, Nov 3: The Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) is organizing 15th Handicraft Trade Fair and 13th Craft Competition in Kathmandu from November 17 to 21.
Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Thursday, the organizer said that the fair will feature 200 stalls from 25 districts across the country. The event, which is being organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), will have both traditional and modern handicraft goods, according to the FHAN.
The federation has also announced cash prize of Rs 50,000 for the winner of craft competition, while first runner-up and second runner-up will take home Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively.

Speaking at the press conference, the organizers said that they were expecting handicraft traders from 20 countries to visit the fair. They also said that the annual fair has played a key role in promoting handicraft products among national as well as foreign community since its inception in 1990.
“Our handicraft products reflect our culture and lifestyle. That is why we are organizing this event to promote handicraft products from across the country,” Dharmaraj Shakya, the president of FHAN, said at the press meet.
“During the event, we are also to felicitate senior artists who have played an important role in promoting Nepali handicraft products.”
The organizers estimate that the fair would record transactions worth around Rs 100 million.
