KATHMANDU, April 3: CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel on Saturday said the parliamentary party meeting has no authority to seek resignation of the prime minister.

Pokharel´s remarks comes at a time when UML leaders have made preparations to float the proposal seeking the resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal at party´s parliamentary meeting.

"I have no idea whether Constituent Assembly (CA) members from our party have been preparing to float the proposal," said Pokharel at a press meet organized by the Press Chautari district chapter, Palpa. He also maintained that seeking PM´s resignation from parliamentary party meeting is not an appropriate process.

Pokharel said seeking PM´s resignation through the party´s central committee meeting would be an appropriate way. "Otherwise, there is no alternative," he added.

Pokharel, however, admitted that the PM and the government was being criticized by UML CA members. "But we are yet to identify the PM´s alternative," he added.

Pokharel said Maoists will not get chance to lead the government unless its combatants are integrated and its paramilitary structure dismantled.
