KATHMANDU, Jan 21: The 13th South Asian Games is likely to reschedule by six months as the Organising Secretariat has sent a proposal to the Nepal Olympic Committee requesting for its postponement. The Committee has received a letter from the Secretariat requesting for the reschedule citing infrastructure construction, said NOC's President Jeevan Ram Shrestha.
The SAG is scheduled to take place in Nepal on March 9-18 in 2019. We have received the letter from the National Sports Council. "We will discuss the matter with the South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC), and a decision will be reached after calling a SAOC meeting in March," said Shrestha, also President of the SAOC.

It is necessary to forge a consensus among the members of the Council to postpone the SAG. Earlier, a decision was made to include 27 different games in the event such as handball, kabbadi, shooting, swimming, taekwondo, volleyball, golf, cricket, archery, basketball, boxing and cycling among others.
Similarly, the 8th National Games slated to take place in November last year has been postponed several times in lack of infrastructures. The mega sports event of the country is going to be held in Province-5.
Although an agreement has been made to organize the event in March, date has not been fixed for the same. Due to differences among the office-bearers of the Council, the decision on date to hold the event had not been determined, said a board member of Council on the condition of anonymity.
