KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The death toll from the Bhotekoshi flood has continued to rise, with 1,355 bodies recovered from flood-affected areas as of 11 am Monday, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The bodies were recovered from eight districts. Chitwan recorded the highest number at 363, followed by Nawalparasi East with 222 and Nawalparasi West with 221. Nuwakot reported 197 recoveries, while Rasuwa had 169, Gorkha 75, Dhading 70 and Tanahun 38.

The scale of the disaster has also prompted a major security mobilization. A total of 21,402 personnel from the Nepal Police, Nepali Army and Armed Police Force have been deployed across the flood-affected areas for rescue and relief operations.
Rescue teams have so far pulled 13,396 people to safety from various locations.
Meanwhile, 6,672 people injured in the floods have received medical treatment. Of them, 323 were treated at various hospitals, including 228 who have already been discharged. The Nepali Army treated 3,379 injured people, while the Armed Police Force provided treatment to 2,970.
Despite the extensive rescue efforts, the whereabouts of 4,996 people remain unaccounted for, according to NDRRMA.
