KATHMANDU, Sept 7: A total of 1,353 bodies have so far been recovered from the Bhotekoshi flood, while 3,992 people remain unaccounted for, according to Nepal Police.
According to the latest data from Nepal Police, the recovered bodies include 530 men, 328 women and 495 that remain unidentified.

Nepal Police Central Spokesperson Abi Narayan Kafle said 2,827 Nepali men and 567 Nepali women remain unaccounted for. Among foreign nationals, 267 men and 239 women remain unaccounted for.
Security personnel continue search-and-rescue operations in the flood-affected areas, as well as the identification and management of recovered bodies. Police said 1,044 bodies have been buried, while efforts are underway to identify and manage the remaining bodies.
A total of 9,159 people have so far been rescued following the disaster, with 3,190 of them being accommodated at holding centres, Kafle said.
DNA testing has been prioritized to identify missing people and recovered bodies. Police said DNA samples have so far been collected from 1,181 deceased people and 1,195 of their relatives, totalling 2,376 samples.
Teams from the Nepal Police, Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, and other government agencies continue search, rescue, identification, and body management operations in the affected areas.
