Home Minister begins India visit

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Home Minister Bhim Rawal Monday left for a four-day visit to India.



Talking to journalists at the VVIP lounge of the Tribhuvan International Airport before flying to India, Rawal said the visit would mainly focus on increasing the mutual assistance and strengthening the security in a high-level.



During the visit, "discussions on controlling the crimes to take place in the immigration point, smuggling of goods through the customs points, drugs smuggling, fake notes racket and cross border crimes in the Terai regions will be held", he said.



"No agreements on the extradition treaty will be signed, but assistance for the establishment of the Nepal Police Academy will be sought", he informed.



Chief of the Nepal Police Ramesh Chand Thakuri, Chief of the Armed Police Force Sanat Kumar Basnet and Chief of the National Investigation Department Ashok Dev Bhatta including others are accompanying the home minister. He is scheduled to return on January 21.
