MELAMCHI, June 25: A temporary bridge in Melamchi Municipality-11 was damaged by flood water last night.
A hump pipe was installed as a temporary bridge after the concrete bridge over the Melamchi river was washed away by the floods in July last year. A local, Dasharath Danuwar, said that the road was closed after the temporary bridge was damaged.
Locals of six wards in the municipality have been affected as a result of the disruption in vehicular movement.
Meanwhile, locals around Helambu and Melamchi left their homes and went to safer grounds at midnight fearing possible floods. Prabha Bhandari of Helambu-2 said that she left home at 12 pm and went to an area with higher elevation in order to save herself from the possible flood.
