12 rape, 11 attempted rape cases reported in 7 months in Chitwan

CHITWAN, March 25: A total of 12 rape cases were reported in the seven months of the current fiscal year 2071/72 in Chitwan district, according to the data released on Wednesday by the District Police Office, Chitwan.

The data shows that 11 attempted rape cases were filed during the period.Spokespersons at the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajan Adhikari, said that a total of 33 rape cases were filed in the last fiscal year. Of them, seven were attempt to rape.

Cases of rape and attempted rape are found increasing in the district every year. A total of 14 rape cases were filed in the fiscal year 2066/67 BS while 14 rape cases and one attempted rape case in the fiscal year 2067/68 BS.

Adhikari said that the district recorded 24 rape cases and five attempted rape in the fiscal year 2068/69 BS. The number of rape cases and attempted rape reached to 33 and seven respectively in the fiscal year 2070/71 BS. RSS
