BIRENDRANAGAR, Jan 27: As many as 118 people were killed in road accidents in Karnali in the last six months. According to the Karnali Province Police Office, 118 people were killed and 515 injured in 203 road accidents in different districts of Karnali.
Similarly, 76 public awareness programs were conducted across the province to reduce the number of accidents, according to the police. Likewise, Rs 171.97 million was raised in revenue in the last six months by taking action against 2,501 vehicles that had violated traffic rules.
A total of 3,579 public awareness programs were conducted in ten districts of Karnali under the Community Police Partnership Program, including awareness on reduction of drugs, domestic violence and child marriage. According to Karnali Province Police Chief, Deputy Inspector General Ganesh Bahadur Ayer, the police has been conducting public awareness programs in the province to reduce crime, road accidents as well as the infection rate of the coronavirus.
