SOLUKHMBU, Jan 18: At least three persons died and a person got injured in a road accident that occurred at Mahadev cliff along the border of Solu Dudhkunda Municipality and Necha Salyan Rural Municipality.
MAHENDRANAGAR, Nov 22: A woman died in a road accident that took place at Krishnapur Municipality of the district last night. The accident took place when a motorcycle (Ma 1 Pa 6766) was hit by a tractor (Se 1 Ta 9533) at Bani Dekhatabhuli Marga of Krishnapur-3, police said.

According to various reports, the total number of bus accidents in Nepal from July 2018 to January 2019 was recorded at 5,404. And that number is only increasing as we continue to hear news of buses plunging into rivers, injuring and killing many, on a daily basis. Narrow roads with sharp bends, and poor conditions of vehicles and highways are often blamed for such accidents. But what is going on, really?

SUNSARI, Dec 1: Six people were killed in a head-on collision between an ambulance and a truck on the East-West highway at Haripur of Sunsari district at 1am today. Five of the dead are from the same family from Bokse, Triyuga Municipality-10 of Udayapur district.
UDAYAPUR, Nov 6: Police on Tuesday said that two elected representatives from Udayapur — Provincial Assembly Member Sanja Danuwar and Devi Kumari Chaudhary, Deputy Mayor of Triyuga Municipality — who were injured in a road accident, are safe.
In yet another deadly road accident in Sindhupalchok district at least one and half a dozen people have lost their lives and over 50 persons sustained injuries when a passenger bus en route to Kathmandu from Dolkha plunged into the Sunkoshi River. The cause of the accident is over-speeding and overloading as in most such cases of road accidents. All seats in the bus were occupied, and 20-25 passengers were standing, according to the survivors. Most of these passengers were returning to Kathmandu after Tihar celebrations. Sindhupalchok accident is the latest in the series of bus accidents happening in the country. Nearly every month, people lose their lives to road accidents. According to the data released by Nepal Police in May this year, road accidents killed 11,005 people across the country during the last five years and altogether 19,877 people were seriously injured in such accidents. The data shows that road accidents have been increasing every year—at the rate of 28 percent. These are the alarming records and yet the government bodies, including Nepal Police, have not been able to do much about controlling such accidents.
