Victim on fast-unto-death to recover ransom money

BIRGUNJ, Jan 28: A man here is on a fast-unto-death strike demanding the return of the money which according to him was earlier extorted by the cadres of Youth Force (YF).



Amit Barnawal said Ajay Kushwal and other cadres of YF, the militant youth wing of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), had abducted him on January 4 and extorted Rs 300,000 ransom amount from his family members.

He has threatened to immolate himself if the administration failed to recover the ransom money he paid to the abductors.



"My family members sold land and other property to arrange Rs 300,000 to pay the ransom," Barnawal, who is staging strike in front of Ghantaghar, said.



He added that he was compelled to take such a harsh move as the abductors threatened to kill him for disclosing the incident to journalists.
