KATHMANDU, Sept 2: A total of 11 Nepali students will be studying in various universities in the UK under the prestigious Chevening scholarship this year.
The Embassy of the UK in Nepal on Thursday organized a pre-departure event to brief them on various aspects of their study and life in the UK in the next one year and officially recognize them as Chevening scholars. Funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and various partner organizations, Chevening Scholarship is offered to students wishing to pursue a one-year Master’s Degree program in various universities across the UK.
13 Nepali students selected for Chevening scholarship this year
Over 350 prospective candidates had applied for the Chevening scholarship this year. Of them, 11 students were able to make it to the final selection.
The students selected for the Chevening scholarship this year include Aarya Subedi, Anu Maharjan, Barun Kumar Singh, Surath Giri, Pratikshya Rajopadhyaya, Prekshya Shrestha, Riju Manandhar, Samarjeet Thapa, Sagar Satyal, Shreya Joshi and Ujjawal Gautam. They will leave for the UK later this month to pursue a one-year post-graduate course.
Addressing the function, British Ambassador to Nepal Nicola Politt congratulated all scholars for securing the prestigious Chevening scholarship. She also expressed hope that all scholars would be able to contribute to their respective fields upon their return home after study and help further strengthen the Nepal-UK relations in the years ahead.
