DAILEKH, June 14: At least 11 passengers have died in a bus accident in Karnali highway near Nayan Mandir of Aathbiskot Municipality-4 of the district.

It has been learned that the ill-fated bus (NA 4 KHA 2958) bound for Mahendranagar from Kalikot skidded off at around 3:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon in the Karnali river due to the narrow and curve road. According to the locals, among those deceased are seven men, three women and one infant.

According to District Police Office, Dailekh, the identification of the dead is still uncertain. The police have started the investigation. However, the number of the passengers traveling in the bus is not yet known as the bus is totally submerged in the river.

Chief District Officer of the district Prakash Chandra Adhikari informed that a rescue team has been sent to the accident site.

The police team and the locals are jointly involved in the rescue work.
