An official of the office told myrepublica.com that all the eight contractors and suppliers were blacklisted for a period of one year. During the period, the firms will not be allowed to compete in any bidding process announced by the government, the official added.
The Public Procurement Act, 2063 has given the office an authority to blacklist the contractors and suppliers for up to three years, depending upon the degree of violation of the law.
According to the office, capital-based Monal Travels and Tours was blacklisted for a period of one year after return air tickets from the US that it had supplied to a ministerial delegation were found not confirmed at due time. As a result, the delegation had to manage another sets of air tickets to return home.
Likewise, Sako Engineering and Technical Trading was also blacklisted for failing to supply essential medical equipment on the time as set in the contract. The office has put Chitwan-based Sameer Construction Service in blacklist on charge of unilaterally terminating construction contract after taking half of the contract amount.
Similarly, Astha Suppliers, with its head office at Bhairahawa, was also blacklisted for terminating supply contract for employees of Forest offices, citing wrong quotation in the bid document.
Decorate Furniture was blacklisted by the PPMO after it declined to supply iron furniture, citing that the rise is iron prices worldwide last year made it impossible to supply at the quoted prices.
Similarly, Agrawal Industry, which had won a contract to make food supplies to a Nepal Army base at Okhaldhunga, was penalized after it disappeared without stating any reason.
New Bishal Supplier and Nava Jyoti Enterprises were also blacklisted after the former didn´t appear to sign the supply agreement after winning the contract to supply stationary items for Nepal Press Council, while the latter couldn´t make supplies as per the agreement.
