KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has demanded punishment against those involved in the murder of a teenager in Baitadi district. Police suspect that the 17-year old Bhagirathi Bhatta could have been murdered after rape.

Taking to social media on Saturday, President Deuba has demanded a quick investigation into the murder and stringent punishment against those involved in the heinous crime. Deuba has said that he is deeply hurt to know that the 17-year old girl hailing from Dogadakedara Rural Municipality-7, Chadepani in Baitadi was brutally killed.

Bhatt went missing on Wednesday. Her dead body was found on the next in the jungle near her home. Nepal Police Headquarters has sent a team of Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) to investigate the killing. A separate probe team led by Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Janak Raj Pandey at Sudur Paschim Provincial Police Office has also been formed to investigate the case.
