Subedi, currently the principal of Gajul Higher Secondary School in Rolpa, has written this book in the format of a diary during the 100 days he was held hostage by Maoist insurgents.
Kiran Krishna Shrestha of nepa~laya Publications says, “We’ve decided not to hold a release function for this book as we didn’t find any element in this book that deserves celebration, except for the fact that Narayan Sir is still alive in flesh and blood and is with us. Hence the book is released through just this statement,” adding, “We hope this will help readers to understand war from a different perspective.”
Subedi was apprehended by the Maoists from his home in Gajul village of Rolpa. He was assured of being released in a few hours after his detention.
It was only after a long time that Subedi realized he was taken hostage. During the 100 days in Maoist captivity, he was transferred to many detention sites.
Every time he was relocated to a new place, he would be aware of the uncertainty of his survival until he reached the next detention house. He felt death was roving around him all the time. Living through this uncertainty, he decided to write his story.
The only reason behind this decision, he says is that “even if I die, my words will live to reflect the dark moments of my life.”
