10 parliamentary committees meeting simultaneously at same time today

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: All 10 parliamentary committees are meeting at the same time today. The meeting will start at 3 PM. 

Today, 10 months after the election to the House of Representatives (HoR), the parliamentary committees are about to get their chairpersons. While nine chairpersons were elected unopposed due to single nomination, election is scheduled for one committee chair today as there were two nominations.

Santosh Chalise of the Nepali Congress has already been elected as the chairman of the Finance Committee, Arju Rana Deuba of the NC as the chairperson of the Agricultural Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee, Ram Hari Khatiwada as the chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.

Similarly, Rishikesh Pokharel of the UML was elected as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee and Kiran Kumar Sah as the chairperson of the Women and Social Affairs Committee.

Bimala Subedi of the Maoist Center has been elected as the chairperson of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee. Raj Kishor Yadav of the Janata Samajwadi has been nominated as the chairman of the Foreign Relations and Tourism Committee. Bhanu Bhakta Joshi of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected as the chairman of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee. Deepak Bahadur Singh of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has been elected as the chairman of the Infrastructure Development Committee. 

Abdul Khan of Janamat Party and Ganesh Parajuli of the RSP are the two contenders for the chairmanship of the Industry, Commerce, Labor and Consumer Interest Committee. Election will be held for the post today.
