Understanding life

Understanding life

I always remember the saying: “Trials in life can be tragedies or triumphs, depending on how we handle them. Triumphs don’t come without effort.”

For me life is a journey where we face numerous hurdles. It’s not always a fortune. In each stage, we have to face the challenges, handle the responsibilities, and deal with different situations. Life isn’t an easy journey, and once we overcome each stage, we feel some kind of relief and relaxation.

There’s no one who isn’t living under some kind of unhappiness, desperation in life, and pressure. There are millions fighting dreadful diseases, family problems, social stigma, and so on.

Only those can overcome it all, when they turn their weaknesses into strengths. We tend to think Bill Gates doesn’t  have any problem in his life, but the reality is different. He too has tension about his security, about his clients, about his products, and many more. Likewise, Binod Chaudhary, a billionaire of Nepal, also has stresses in life related to his products, the market situation, customers, his properties, international trade, and so on.

It doesn’t matter how much successful they are, they all have personal matters that bother them. Just as a coin has two sides, head and tail, life also gives us both happiness and sadness. We must accept both the things in life.

Life is a continuous learning process, which is not measured on the basis of how happy we are or what we have achieved, but how we live it. We must live to win in life not to lose. Every day, we hear about suicide, murder, kidnapping, and so on.

It’s because there are people who are hopeless in life. They don’t know the value of life and haven’t understood why they are here. They are afraid of problems, obstacles and don’t have ability to face it and overcome from it. Suicide is not the solution, it is only cowardice. One must be so optimist that nothing can disturb his or her positive state of mind. Only then real happiness comes in life.

I remember a short story from the book ‘You Can Win’: there was a biology teacher who was teaching his student how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. She told how a butterfly has to struggle to come out of cocoon. Without any effort it couldn’t come out, than she leaves the room letting students to observe it. As the students were looking how it is struggling, one of the students helped the butterfly to come out of cocoon and it dies. When the teacher returned and asked what happened, one of the student explained everything .Then, the teacher told the students that it was the law of nature that nobody could avoid.

What we can understand from this is: one has to struggle to exist in this world, nothing comes free in life. Those who work hard, they get everything. They get success in life. The journey of life is too long, and it’s a hard task to pass it. We must not be afraid to struggle and if we face failure, we shouldn’t be disheartened.
