Two-day international conference for enhancing skills
In collaboration with Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich), Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED) is conducting a two-day international conference in Dhulikhel, Kavre on September 11 and 12. The conference will be about Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
According to a press statement released by KUSOED, more than 200 TVET scholars, researchers and practitioners from six continents are participating at the conference themed as ‘'TVET for Employment, Income, and Job Quality.'
“Though it is believed that education leads to employability and enhancement of the quality of life of people, a mismatch between the skills and knowledge that are taught and transmitted and are in need, is leaving millions of youth jobless across the globe. So, through this conference, we have aimed for the enhancement of the sector,” the statement further reads.
Throughout the conference, it’ll have speeches from four keynote speakers: Prof Tanka Nath Sharma (Kathmandu University), Noel Ginsburg (Founder and CEO, Intertech Plastics), Dr Ursula Renold (Head of Division Comparative Education System Research, ETH Zurich) and Wayne Mendiola (Acting Secretary, National Department of Education, Federated States of Micronesia).
Aside from the keynote speakers, the conference will also feature three workshops and the presentation of 82 research papers.
