Two accused on charge of murdering former state minister Yadav made public

RAUTAHAT, July 30: Police investigations have revealed that former minister of state Ram Chandra Raya Yadav was murdered by his own household worker upon instruction from a third person for monetary gain. According to the police, the prime reason for the murder was a land-related dispute. The District Police Office Sarlahi on Monday made public two accused of being involved in the murder of Raya.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Rabindra Kumar Singh at the District Police Office, Sarlahi, said that the investigation has revealed that Ram Ujjain Raya, 25, who had been employed in the former state minister's residence for household chores and kitchen work for the past 10 years, is the main accused in the act of murder while the mastermind is 46-year-old Birendra Raya.

Organizing a press conference at the District Police Office, Malangwa on Monday, SP Singh made public  Ram Ujjain Raya and Birendra Raya of Chandranagar Rural Municipality- 1, for their alleged involvement in the murder of former state minister Raya.

SP Singh said that the investigation has revealed that Birendra Raya provoked Ram Ujjain to commit the murder due to a land dispute between Birendra Raya and the former state minister Raya.

According to police, Ram Ujjain Raya was lured into committing the murder. Police claim that Ram Ujjan Raya recorded a statement with police saying that Birendra Raya promised to give him Rs 200,000 if he murdered former state minister Raya. Birendra even assured to set up a firm for Ram Ujjain to start business.

After being lured by Birendra Raya, Ram Ujjain Raya killed former state minister Raya on the night of July 22 by hitting him on the head with a sharp weapon while he was sleeping, the police revealed. Following the murder, Ram Ujjan Raya himself informed the Area Police Office Kesarganj Ishworpur, at around 12:45 PM about the murder of former state minister Raya.

Ram Ujjan Raya initially stated that three unknown men arrived at the former minister’s residence at around 9 PM and instructed him to go to sleep. According to his statement, he later woke up in the middle of the night and found that former state minister Raya had been murdered. He then reported the incident to the police. However, the police were suspicious of Ram Ujjain Raya and further interrogation revealed that he was the one who killed the former state minister.

SP Singh said that the District Court Sarlahi has extended the judicial custody of both the suspects by 10 days. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
