This summer, Soundgarden will release Soundgarden: Live from the Artists Den, a live concert film and album produced in conjunction with the Chris Cornell Estate, Universal Music and Artists Den, a music series that stages intimate concerts by influential artists. Out July 26, the new collection captures Soundgarden's February 2013 performance at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, which was the concluding show of the act's King Animal tour.
“We were very proud and excited to document the performance of our new material from King Animal,” Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil said in a statement. “And to celebrate with each other and our fans.”
The performance stands as a testament to late Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell's onstage presence. Cornell died in 2017, aged 52, from what was later determined to be a suicide. Numerous rockers spoke out in support after the death, and Cornell's widow, Vicky Cornell, later questioned investigating authorities' official conclusion. In coordination with the album release, there will be scheduled immersive events where fans can attend a listening party with the high resolution audio set to an eye-catching light show.
Pre-orders for the new Soundgarden package are available now; the set will be available in 4-LP, 2-CD and Blu-ray configurations. Additionally, tickets for the Soundgarden: Live from the Artists Den immersive events go on sale Thursday (May 16) at 5PM ET as an exclusive bundle with the 2-CD set.
