KATHMANDU, June 30: The Seventh Regional Everest International Model United Nations (EIMUN) Conference concluded successfully in Kathmandu on Friday.

Organized by the US Embassy in collaboration with the Youth Thinkers Society, the five-day conference took place at The Malla Hotel from June 24 to June 28.

The conference gathered 200 delegates from 10 countries to simulate discussions in five UN committees: the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), UN Women, the UN Environment Program (UNEP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

This year, delegates engaged in lively debates on regional policy issues such as climate change, artificial intelligence, women's participation in peace and security, and combating digital misinformation. The conference served as a pivotal platform for learning, sharing experiences, and developing innovative policy recommendations to address these global challenges through collaborative efforts and leadership initiatives.

During the closing ceremony, the US embassy’s Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Garrett Wilkerson expressed gratitude to all participants, including the delegates, for their active and meaningful contributions throughout the conference, which contributed to its overall success. He emphasized the role of programs like EIMUN in promoting multilateralism and providing invaluable opportunities for honing negotiation and public speaking skills.
