SC quashes writ petition filed by 10 doctors detained on charge of owning fake certificates

KATHMANDU, June 27: The Supreme Court quashed the writ petition filed by 10 doctors detained by police on the charge of possessing fake academic certificates to stud medical science.

A joint bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sushila Karki and Justice Gobinda Kumar Upadhyay, on Monday, decided to nullify the petition, according to court Assistant Spokesperson Bishwaraj Poudel.

They were arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on the charge of possessing fake academic certificates. They challenged the arrest at the apex court, claiming it was unlawful and intended.

Ram Kumar Pradhan, Binita Pandey, Saroj Ghimire, Pannalal Patel, Mohammed Ruhullah and Shreeram Ghimire are among those who challenged their detention at the court.

Likewise, the Kathmanu District Court on Monday allowed the CIB to hold those doctors arrested on the same charge for five more days in detention for further investigation. RSS
