Portrait painting workshop begins


KATHMANDU
The Department of Painting, Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) began an eight-day-long ‘Portrait Painting Workshop-2077’ on Tuesday in Naxal.

The workshop was inaugurated by KK Karmacharya, chancellor of NAFA. In the inauguration ceremony, personalities like Manisha Koirala, Anuradha Koirala and others were present. The first day of the workshop began with Anuradha Koirala and Surendra Bir Malakar’s portrait painting.

Moreover, portraits of personalities such as KK Karmacharya, Manisha Koirala, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Haribansh Acharya, Ani Choying Dolma, Surendra Shrestha, Surendra Bir Malakar, Pradip Kumar Shrestha, Bhadra Kumari Ghale, Anuradha Koirala, Ambika Shrestha and Prithvi Bahadur Pandey will be made during the workshop.

A total of 11 artists including Gajendraman Shrestha, Alok Gurung, Baburaja Deula, Srijan Rajbhandari, D Ram Palpali, Krishna Prakash Shah, Kishor Nakarmi, Roshan Pradhan, Pradip Shrestha, Pooja Marhajan and Kancha Kaji Bhasima will be creating the portraits.

According to Sushma Rajbhandari, head of the Department of Painting, the proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to Kalika Devi Secondary School in Sindhupalchowk for the education of children.
