Nepali chef Santosh Shah has entered the final round of the internationally-renowned 'BBC Master chef Professionals 2020' competition. In the semi-final round aired on BBC One on Thursday evening, he secured his position in the top six with the Newah dish Yomari.

In the latest episode, Santosh bewitched judges with Nepali dumpling dish Yomari, stuffed with chocolate, cashews, nuts, chilly, orange and cinnamon. Then, at the request of the judges, he made Indo-Chinese dishes and pickles, including chicken chilly, hot and sour soup, and crispy noodles.

Out of the total 32 professional chefs participating in the competition, Santosh has managed to reach the top 6 by crossing various stages and calling it a great achievement of his career.

London-based 34 years old Santosh is originally from Karjanha, Siraha district Nepal. He came to the UK in 2010 and now works at Indian restaurant Cinnamon Collection as the head chef and as executive chef at Saffron Circle UK.

In his Facebook status, he writes, “Yomari, also called Yamari, is a delicacy of the Newah community in Nepal. It is a steamed dumpling that consists of an external covering of rice flour with sweet fillings such as chaku. The delicacy plays a very important role in Newah society, and is a key part of the festival of Yomari Punhi.  I have done with twist- a Nepalese dumpling delicacy, stuffed with chocolate, cashews, nuts, chilli, orange and cinnamon.”

The finale will be held on December 17.
