BANKE, July 3:   Keeping in mind the growing urbanization, 'Nepalgunj Green City' is going to be built with a secluded and picturesque environment, separate from the city. Kalika Housing Pvt Ltd headed by Rashid Ahmed Qureshi has started the construction of the green city at Hariyababa Road, Ramnagar, Nepalgunj-6.

The city under construction is also connected to Nepalgunj- 13 and 17. The city is going to be spread over an area of 25 bighas. Irshad Rai, project director of Nepalgunj Green City, said that it is intended to be spread over an area of 50 bighas. He says that an additional 25 bighas of land has been purchased for this purpose. It is expected that the Green City, which has started to be built with a total investment of five billion rupees, will help attract investment to Nepalgunj. There will be about 1000 households here. He says that there is coordination with banks and big hospitals for this. “It will be a big organized city,” he said, “For which institutions like hospitals, banks are needed.” It is said that hospitals in Kathmandu and India are being requested to invest in the project. There will also be a commercial market within the Green City so that citizens living here do not have to go out shopping.

It aims to develop more than 500 affordable housing units and service plates. "Individual houses will have natural light, ventilation," he said, "Each house is designed to collect rainwater. Every household will be encouraged to plant plants in their backyard.” He also said that more than 35 percent of the land has been set aside for landscape with clean greenery and green city has been encouraged. “Each house has been designed with appropriate cross ventilation, natural light. Site planning has been done so as to cope with the favorable climate.”

He said that site planning was done on the basis of minimum infrastructure cost with efficient planning. Located in a quiet, clean and green environment, real estate and house shopping has already started in this area.  

There will be a school, a college, a hospital and commercial plan within its own compound to be a model settlement of Nepal. The company said that there is a plan to open various industries and factories for the purpose of providing employment to the people living in Green City. "Planning has been done in such a way that people with varying income levels can be targeted," he says, "Electrical wires will be underground within the compound."
