The United Nation General Assembly on April 12, 2018, declared June 3 as the World Bicycle Day. Cycle City Network Nepal stated their press statement that the first ‘World Bicycle Day’ aims to address the societal and health benefits of bicycle as means of transport or for leisure.

Cycle City Network Nepal (CCNN) also organized a Photo Competition with 'bicycle' as the theme to mark the occasion, stated the press release. A total of 48 submissions were judged by a jury comprising Bijay Gajmer and Usha Titakchu. The winners were decided based on different criteria, such as content, storytelling, thematic presentation, and composition. Dipesh Yonzon’s photograph bagged the first prize.

Additionally, different organizations, along with CCNN are jointly collaborating to organize a bicycle rally starting from Basantapur. The event is said to be flagged off by Raghubir Mahaseth, Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.
