KATHMANDU, Dec12: Studio 7 is staging ‘Art’: A play based on the award-winning play by Yasmina Reza. The event will be hosted in association with Theatre at Hotel Vajra. The play is scheduled for screening from December 14 at Hotel Vajra, Bijeswari. The program is sponsored by Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Kathmandu.
As per a statement released by studio 7, the play is themed on the never-ending journey of humans towards each other, with each other, and against each other. The story is about three young men who represent urban Kathmandu society. All three are entrepreneurs, who want to reach the ‘top’, be recognized in society as “somebody special”. The play shows that art, when freed from market mechanisms, has the power to reveal, to make things visible and to remind one what is precious in life.
Prominent theatre artists Karma, Kundoon and Raymon Das Shrestha feature in the play. Sabine Lehmann has directed the play. Music has been arranged by Aman Karna.
The performance starts at 7:15 PM. The play will be shown every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from December 14 to December 23, and Thursday, Saturday and Sunday on December 27, 29 and 30 respectively.
The last performance is scheduled for December 30.
