‘Aayanka’ raising reproductive health education

“I don’t feel shame to say that I get period every month and use sanitary pad,” when Priyanka Karki asked Najarana Khatun a secondary level student to recite this statement, the rest of the students followed her. Students seemed delighted to get educated on menstrual hygiene provided by karki amid a special program held at the premised of Aadharbhut Nimna Madhyamik Bidhyalaya at Dhanusha.

Karki and her fiancé, Aayushman Desraj Joshi visited the district as a part of a campaign of their newly registered organization ‘Aayanka Foundation’. They landed on Dhanusha on Monday with sanitary pads, bags and needy essentials. The foundation held the campaign with the slogan of ‘Na Mahina Wari, Na Mahina Paari, Ma Huin Mahina Bhari’.

President of the foundation, Karki informed that the campaign will be further organized all across the country. “Menstruation is a natural process and is an integral part of every woman’s life. However, people are still ashamed to talk about this natural thing. It’s very crucial for a female to maintain proper hygiene and to develop a society where people can clearly talk about their biological processes,” Karki added.

Meantime, she taught students about the safe methods to use sanitary pads. Speaking about the issue actor Joshi stated that menstruation is not only the issue relating to female, males and people around them play equal role to minimize their psychological pain.
