KATHMANDU, Sept 18: The 27th Memorial Day of Ganesh Man Singh, one of the founders of the Nepali Congress, has been observed. On the occasion, a floral tribute was paid to his statue at Shobha Bhagwati on Wednesday morning.

Prakash Man Singh, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, who is also the son of the late Ganesh Man Singh, discussed the significant role of the late Singh in Nepal's democratic movement. He shared that Singh spent over 15 years in prison and never made any compromises, emphasizing his commitment to the rights of the people.

Active as a member of the Praja Parishad since 1940 to end the Rana rule, Singh had declined the offer to become Prime Minister after the 2046 BS (1990) People's Movement. Leader Singh, born on November 9, 1915, in Chaksibari, Chhetrapati, Kathmandu, passed away on September 18, 1997.

Born into a prominent family in Kathmandu, Singh became actively involved in the campaign to end the Rana rule as a member of the Praja Parishad, Nepal's first political party, which was established in 1940 BS.
