Responsibility of building Nepal lies on the shoulders of youth

BUTWAL, March 6: Health Minister Pradip Paudel has said that the responsibility of building Nepal lies on the shoulders of the youth. Speaking at a debate organized by Nepal Republic Media Limited (NRM) among the youth under the slogan ‘I am a citizen, I will build Nepal’ in Butwal on Wednesday, Minister Paudel made this statement.

“The responsibility of building the country lies on the shoulders of every citizen of Nepal,’ Minister Paudel said, “The government is also taking policy initiatives to identify the possibilities in the country and create employment.”

Minister Paudel also mentioned that Nepali people are recognized as hardworking and diligent around the world. “Currently, due to inadequate salaries, benefits, and employment opportunities, the bitter reality is that youth are going abroad. The government is working on improving this,” he said. He also urged the youth to remain optimistic.

“The government is working on creating youth-friendly policies,” he added, “It is focusing on collaboration with the private sector and is serious about creating an investment-friendly environment.”

Stating that there is a need for a special policy for accessible and quality health, he said that work is underway in this regard. He said, “Currently, we are working on a policy that will allow people to get treatment using insurance cards instead of withdrawing money from their pockets.”

Mentioning that Nepal has ample potential in education, health, agriculture, tourism, and hydropower, he urged to move forward by embracing such potential.

Similarly, NRM Director Shobha Gyawali said that special initiatives should be taken from the policy level for the development of youth and women's entrepreneurship.

Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN), President Gyawali, stated that the youth are the backbone of the country's development and emphasized the need for youth to move forward with the mindset and enthusiasm of ‘I build my country.’

“The government must also focus on creating an environment for youth to explore opportunities within the country and connect them with the economy,” Ghawali said, “It's not that the youth are not trying; they are making efforts to move forward with new ideas. There is a need to encourage youth and women who are determined to do something within the country.”

Mayor of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City Khel Raj Pandey said that the local government should run programs with special plans for the development and expansion of technical schools for practical education with skills and self-employment creation.

“There is significant potential in education, health, tourism, agriculture and small and medium industries,” he said, “the local government is also focusing its plans and budgets in collaboration with the community.”

Principal of Butwal Kalika Campus, Ghanshyam Pathak, said that practical education should be given priority so that the manpower produced in the country is kept in the country. He said that his campus is running a campaign to aim at fostering a sense of national pride among students, with the slogan ‘Education with Culture and Civilization’.

Campus Chief Pathak expressed hope that the ‘I am a citizen, I will build Nepal’ campaign, organized by NRM, will help explore the country's potential by instilling a sense of responsibility and accountability in young students towards Nepal.

In the program, motivational speaker and banker Anil Kehsari Shah said that Nepal is full of nature and possibilities. “However, the government and political parties have failed to create an environment where youth can see potential within the country. Now, we must create an environment where the youth are encouraged to stay and contribute to building the nation,” he added.

Another motivational speaker, Sneh Rajbhandari, Director of Public Affairs and Communications Manager at Coca-Cola India Pvt Ltd, said that both the present and the future are bright for the youth in Nepal. She emphasized that everyone should focus on industrial development for the development of the country and employment creation.

She said, “The government and private sector must focus on industrial development. By ensuring proper education, healthcare, and employment for young students, we can rejuvenate hope among the youth.”
