Yogesh Gauchan Thakali elected Chair of Youth Committee at 15th AFPPD General Assembly

Nepali parliamentarian Yogesh Gauchan Thakali has been elected as the Chair of the Youth Committee of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) during its 15th General Assembly held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 27–28, 2025.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 28: Nepali parliamentarian Yogesh Gauchan Thakali has been elected as the Chair of the Youth Committee of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD) during its 15th General Assembly held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 27–28, 2025.


AFPPD is a regional network representing 30 National Committees comprising parliamentarians from across Asia-Pacific and Central Asia. The forum focuses on promoting policy dialogue and collaboration to address critical issues affecting vulnerable populations, including women, children, youth, and the ageing community.

Thakali’s election to this influential position underscores Nepal’s growing leadership in international platforms dealing with population and development challenges. In addition to his strong advocacy for youth empowerment, Thakali has also been championing the climate crisis narrative, raising urgent climate issues across all platforms, and calling for sustainable and inclusive policies to safeguard the future of younger generations.
