The latest addition to the US Embassy’s American Spaces resource centers, Innovation Hub Kathmandu is a perfect place to spend your leisurely afternoon in a productive manner.
Located on the ground floor of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) building in Teku, Kathmandu, the Hub features a library, free wi-fi, a children’s corner, an incubator for wannabe entrepreneurs, and lots of space for everyone to sit down and read and/or research. The incubator features ample of resource materials and four workstations equipped with MAC computers and Internet facilities.

According to Tshering Tamang, information officer of Innovation Hub Kathmandu, it aims at developing reading habit among children and youth, and promote library-culture “which seems to have declined of late.”
While anyone can drop in and use the Hub’s facilities, like read books and use Internet (minus email and Facebook), only members are allowed to borrow books and other resource materials. One can get a yearly membership for Rs 1,000 in which students are entitled to 50% discount. Entrepreneur membership comes at Rs 2,000.
The Hub is open on weekdays from 10:30 AM to 5 PM, and regularly features events like book reading and film screening, and workshop on writing, language, etc.
