Vote counting for NC CWC resumes

KATHMANDU, March 10: Vote counting to elect 25 Central Working Committee(CWC) members of Nepali Congress (NC) under the open category has resumed on Thursday morning.

The election committee of NC had postponed the counting till today after counting 150 votes on Wednesday evening.

Likewise, the NC election comitee has also begun vote counting for CWC members under category of Muslim.

A total of 15 candidates from Deuba panel and 10 others from the panel led by Ram Chandra Paudel were leading in the race.

Majority of candidates from Sher Bahadur Deuba panel are leading in the initial stage.

Those securing the top 25 positions upon completion of the vote count of the total 3148 votes cast during Sunday’s general assembly will be elected as CWC members under the open category.

The party has already counted the votes for party president, general secretary and treasurer and announced the three winners. Senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba has been elected as the party president, Shashank Koirala as general secretary and Sitadevi Yadav has bagged the post of treasurer.
