The protestors vandalized furniture and the stage set up at the Gaur hospital premises claiming that the protests were part of the UDMF's strategy of not allowing any minister to organize programs in the Madhes region.
"We've changed the nature of the Madhes movement but it is not ended. The movement is still on," Anil Singh, a UDMF cadre, said informing their new form of protests were continuation of the struggle to secure the rights of Madhes.
Two doctors sustained minor injuries due to the scuffle that erupted between police and the UDMF cadres. "We had to use force to disperse the protestors from the venue," District Police Office spokesperson Rajendra Pokharel said adding that security personnel were deployed around the hospital after the incident to avoid any untoward incident.
State Minister Alam, representing the Madhesi People's Rights Forum -Democratic (MPRF-D) in the coalition government, has been in his home district since five days and during the program at the hospital he was a scheduled to announce some packages for the hospital, Bikrant Bikram Nepal, chairperson of MPRF-D, Gaur chapter, informed.
