Leaders and cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) hit the streets early in the morning saying that the Madhes movement was suppressed by Home Minister Shakti Basnet, who is from Dahal's party. The UDMF cadres lashed out at Dahal saying that he played a key role in the promulgation of the new constitution without incorporating the Madhesi demands. The irate cadres led by Ishwarchanda Yadav, Parsa district coordinator of Madhesi Youth Alliance, burnt tyres at Ghantaghar Chowk in protest of Dahal and greeted him with black flags. However, police intervened immediately and removed the burnt tyres from the streets.
Similarly, former state minister Karima Begam-led cadres also demonstrated against Dahal by burning tyres at Mudli Chowk. Police arrested 10 demonstrators by afternoon.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Dahal claimed that the dilemma in the implementation of constitution would be sorted out soon.
"We are ready to hold discussions on the 11-point demands forwarded by the UDMF. As the government is affirmative toward it, we are hopeful that the outcome would be positive," he said.
