U.S. Assistant Secretary Blake arrives in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Sept 10: U.S. Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O. Blake arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal on Monday for a two-day visit.



During his stay in Nepal, Assistant Secretary Blake is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepa Army Chief Gaurav Rana and other Nepali government officials to discuss range of bilateral and regional issues, including the recent delisting of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) under Executive Order (E.O.) 13224 and as a terrorist organization on the Terrorist Exclusion List (TEL), reads the press statement issued by the US Embassy in Nepal. Blake is also set to meet with business leaders, representatives of Tibetan community, civil society leaders and human rights activists.



On Tuesday Assistant Secretary Blake is also scheduled to hold a press conference at the Hyatt Hotel.
