Two candidates rejected, 14 withdraw as UML heads into crucial voting

Two candidacies were rejected and 14 central committee candidates withdrew ahead of voting at the CPN-UML’s 11th National General Convention.

KATHMANDU, Dec 16: Voting is set to begin shortly at the CPN-UML’s 11th National General Convention, with preparations at Bhrikutimandap in full swing.



Campaigning for the party’s new leadership intensified early in the morning, as candidates and their supporters canvassed delegates from across the country.

The party’s Central Election Commission has published the final list of candidates, announcing the rejection of Pasang Lama Sherpa and Dharmaraj Giri from Lumbini.


Meanwhile, 14 candidates for Central Committee positions have withdrawn their nominations, most of them from the open and inclusive clusters, primarily citing their inability to submit citizenship-related documents.
