DANG, June 5: Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City has begun using AI-powered X-ray technology to detect tuberculosis (TB) cases as part of its campaign to make the municipality TB-free.
Health officials say the technology is helping identify infected individuals more efficiently, including cases that may not be clearly detected through conventional screening methods.
According to TB focal person Shiva Prasad Tiwari, TB cases have been identified in 17 out of 19 wards of Tulsipur using AI-assisted X-ray screening.

“Earlier, tuberculosis was diagnosed using regular X-rays,” Tiwari said. “Now, AI X-ray has made detection easier and more effective, which has also improved treatment initiation.”
Officials say the AI-based system helps doctors detect abnormalities that may not be visible even through standard microscopy.
Om Prasad Neupane, head of the Public Health Promotion Section at Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City, said the technology has strengthened early detection efforts in the TB elimination campaign.
As part of its ongoing drive to declare Tulsipur a tuberculosis-free municipality, health workers are actively screening and treating identified patients using AI-assisted diagnostics.
The programme is currently in its second year of implementation.
