133 tuberculosis cases detected in Gorkha in eight months

Health authorities have identified a total of 133 tuberculosis cases across Gorkha district in the past eight months. From mid-July to mid-February of the current fiscal year, tuberculosis cases were detected in all 11 local units of the district.

GORKHA, March 24: Health authorities have identified a total of 133 tuberculosis cases across Gorkha district in the past eight months. From mid-July to mid-February of the current fiscal year, tuberculosis cases were detected in all 11 local units of the district.


Navaraj Khadka, Information Officer at the Provincial Public Health Office, reported that 78 men and 55 women tested positive for tuberculosis. Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality recorded the highest number of cases with 26 infections, followed by Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality with 25, Gorkha Municipality with 21, and Palungtar Municipality with 19 cases.

Additionally, Arughat Rural Municipality reported 14 cases, Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality 9, Ajirkot and Dharche Rural Municipalities 5 each, Siranchok Rural Municipality 4, Gandaki Rural Municipality 3, and Chumnubri Rural Municipality 2 cases.


In the last fiscal year, the district confirmed 232 tuberculosis cases.
