Thapa Magar breathed his last at Charak Hospital, said police spokesperson Bishwa Raj Adhikari. His colleague Rosy Gurung of Birauta, who was riding pillion, is in a critical condition. They were heading toward Ratnachowk when the micro bus (Ga 1 Kha 1860) hit the bike.
Thapa Magar had exchanged pleasantries with his colleagues after passing SLC from Fish Tail Academy and had gone to buy sweets with colleague Gurung, according to principal of Fish Tail School Chinu Ranabhat.
Ranabhat said Thapa Magar had secured 85 percent in the exams while injured Gurung obtained 83 percent. “He didn´t even get to share his happiness of getting excellent result in SLC. His wish to feed sweet to teachers has remained unfulfilled,” Ranabhat rued.
The duo had gone to the home of famous volleyball player and colleague Shipora Gurung before going to buy sweets. Rosy had gone inside but Thapa Magar had waited outside.
“I am sad to hear about the accident just minutes after Rosy had left my house. I am extremely sad to hear the tragic accident of my friends,” Shipora, who secured 89 percent in the exams, said.
Thapa Magar was also good at sports and represented his school in the Coca Cola Cup Football Tournament being held in Pokhara. He was the younger of two sons in the family.
