Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called the meeting to implement the commitment made for the formation of the much-talked about political mechanism which is supposed to resolve the province demarcation row, Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato told Republica.
"The UDMF will participate in the meeting with terms and conditions. The political mechanism will be acceptable to us only when it is mandated to create two provinces in the Tarai. We will not agree until a clear-cut provision is laid down in the schedule of the new constitution stating that there will be two provinces in the Tarai," Mahato said.

Other conditions to be floated by the UDMF in the meeting are that the government should stop arresting UDMF cadres during the protest and provide Rs 1 million to the families of martyrs, treatment expenses to the injured, added Mahato.
A joint taskforce meeting held in Singha Durbar in the third week of January had agreed to resolve province demarcation issues through the formation of a high level political body.
The talks hit a snag after Nepali Congress leaders including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli raised questions over the legitimacy, procedure and jurisdiction of the political body. The UDMF has been demanding that a provision for the political body should be laid down in the schedule of the constitution.
