KATHMANDU, Sept 2: The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu organized a tourism promotion event at its premises to showcase Sri Lanka as a premier travel destination and strengthen tourism cooperation between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
In her welcome remarks, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. highlighted tourism as a platform to enhance partnerships, cultural understanding, and opportunities between the two countries. She emphasized Sri Lanka’s landscapes, heritage, traditions, hospitality, and diverse experiences, expressing confidence in a sustainable and inclusive future for the tourism sector, according to a press release issued by the Embassy.

The program included a presentation on the historical ties between Nepal and Sri Lanka, as well as the country’s attractions, ranging from the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy to Ramayana-related sites, golden beaches, hill country, wildlife safaris, wellness experiences and vibrant nightlife. Promotional videos and traditional Sri Lankan sweets were also featured.
The event was attended by the presidents of NATTA and SOTTO, leading travel agencies and media representatives. An open discussion session allowed participants to explore ways to expand bilateral tourism.
The event reinforced the commitment of Nepal and Sri Lanka to enhance tourism linkages, deepen cultural ties, and promote greater people-to-people connectivity, according to the press release.
