KATHMANDU, April 5: The government has appointed Dr Narayan Dutt Kandel as the Attorney General.
The cabinet meeting held on Sunday recommended Kandel as the legal advisor to the government. Accordingly, he was appointed in the position by the President Ram Chandra Poudel.

The Attorney General is the legal advisor to the government, and also forms the leadership of government lawyers who prosecute criminal cases, and leads the debate and advocacy of all cases related to the government.
Earlier, Kandel had worked as a legal advisor to look after cases of Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane. He was also the president of the Dhaulagiri chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists to look after units of Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi and Mustang districts.
